40% of school districts in the United States have reduced the amount of recess and physical education. Not having sports in school is unamerican. Cutting sports from schools will take away the American Dream for many children. We are not going to fix our educational system by taking away recess and sports teams. One of the only advantages America has compared to other countries in its educational system is its balance between mind and body. When we take away recess and team sports, we take away that balance. We take away the opportunity for kids to learn important life skills. Sports can keep kids out of trouble, in shape, prevents anxiety, and teaches good leadership skills.

Our Mission

There are many organizations which try to keep kids active and healthy. For example, Michelle Obama started the Let’s Move campaign, Asphalt Green sends coaches to different schools across New York City to help supervise recess and to make sure everyone gets to play, and City In The Community (CITC) has served over 30,000 young people across the five boroughs, using the power of soccer to promote health, education, and leadership. Adults are helping kids stay active.

Sports Volunteer Project (SVP) offers volunteer opportunities for 8-12th graders to help other kids play soccer, basketball, and tennis throughout the city. As the world is going to pieces, kids need to come together and volunteer to help other kids. Kids and sports are perhaps the only thing left that our country can depend on to bring people together.
